The indoor market has all sorts, street food, coffee, butchers, fish mongers, pet shop, jewellery stall, wax melts... You name it, they have it. The outdoor market is very foodie focused with street food vendors and bars which I believe is open late at the weekends as it is the indoor market on the last Friday of every month. We can't wait to revisit in the summer for drinks.
Visited here on a Saturday evening for food. We have done this a couple of times recently and we haven't been disappointed. We were a little surprised by the number of bars and eateries here, we had no idea. You don't really see it from the front. It would seem on a weekend it turns into the place to be for families and couples to gather to grab a bite to eat and a drink should they wish. Plenty of choice of places to eat and same if you do want something to drink. Also plenty of tables which is great. Definitely a buzz if you want to pop out and grab either a takeaway or eat there. Very social relaxed atmosphere for sure. We have tried two places to eat now and maybe try a 3rd for sure. Next time maybe stay for an hour and soak up the atmosphere. Definitely recommend a visit
Friday evening trip to food market. The variety was excellent. Something for all. Sadly the Gyros place had a 45 minute delay after we ordered, so we cancelled. It was rather good hotdogs all round. Couple of beers and a pleasant tea was had by all. Could do with more seating
Great little market. Has some great stalls in there, especially the butchers stalls. Also don't miss the coffee shop in the middle, we had two brilliant flat white coffees. Great service too.
I suggest people who decry the current owners and market affairs look into why exactly certain stalls - no names, but a certain shack perhaps - is no longer on the market. It’s not Willy Nilly. Plus, Spicy Jack had a great launch. But all the traders and lads who have it are fab. Never an issue; real community hub.
Really can not understand why this market is not busier..maybe because its neither fish nor fowl....looks like it's trying to be a destination more than a market so delivers neither. Just lacks atmosphere but all the stall holders are lovely - friendly and knowledgeable. Don't know what the answer is because it's obviously trying.
Nice bit of outside street food. Inside market quite surprised by selection and size. Worth a visit.
Lovely market, the atmosphere is like stepping back in time. Bought pies from one of the stalls, very good. Will be going back soon and trying some of the other stalls. Very friendly stall holders.
Love this place! A superb balance of traditional & modern offerings. Foodie Fridays are awesome, we love pizza box and Thai shack. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating too! The market also offers plenty of events including themed weekends such as dog fest, jewellery making and pottery classes. The market stalls are local owners and sell an array of goods such as handmade jewellery, pet supplies, sweets, handmade fudge, deli, art, bakery, fruit and vegetables, and lots of freshly cooked foods. The market is just a short walk to Bank St offering a traditional cobbled street with more local shops, cafes, clothing, restaurants and bars.
Much improved now there are more eating options in and around the market. Eat either outside or inside with lots of stalls inside for you to sample. Some good bargains on offer and afterwards have a pint or two
