Sausage & chips were very tasty indeed and the portion more than ample. Fine choice of beautiful & original gifts were on sale there and the two girls serving were most amicable and very generous with their time and indeed were a wealth of knowledge.
Can't even call this a chip shop. Hand full of frozen chips dropped in a frier. My haggis was so undercooked even the batter was still soggy and dripping with grease. I honestly cannot express how much I would avoid this place.
The good, the place was clean and quite well organised. It was not cheap at £18 for f & c twice, plus 2 cans of pop. Fish was great, chips were pretty good. All piping hot. Could have done with more salt and vinegar. All in all very good and would recommend.
Don’t know where to start. Thought I’d stepped into the twilight zone. Drunk old woman started asking me questions about my family when I was ordering food! Don’t think she worked there as she was sitting drinking wine or they’ve great staff breaks! The woman taking my order was lovely but then asked where I was staying and how much it was costing me. Oh and then the food. Just terrible . Think it was oven chips and the batter was like plaster or something. Don’t think it was cooked properly. Wouldn’t go back.
Not the place to go if you want good quality Fish and Chips. As you walk in you will notice it's not like a regular chippy in the traditional sense as there's no pre cooked food like pies, fish, battered sausage etc in the heated glass cabinets you normally see. It's a very bizarre shop too as you notice there's another shop within the chippy itself that sells home made goods, soaps and trinkets. We asked for 2 x Fish & Chips plus a carton of Mushy peas and Gravy. My wife noticed the chips were frozen, but in a confusing sort of way as if they'd been cooked once already, like chippy chips would be but then frozen and re'fried. I'll admit, I could be wrong about the re-fried thing but they were definitely cooked from frozen as we watched them tip them in the frier. The fish was ok but had some bones in and the batter was soggy. The peas and gravy were from Aldi as we watched them make the gravy from the Aldi cardboard carton. These were also handed to us in take away coffee cups with the sippy lids on. What I can say is that we did eat the fish, which tasted ok, couldn't eat the batter with how soggy it was, didn't eat any of the peas or gravy other than a quick finger dip to get the awful tasting Aldi products and ate the chips that didn't have the crispy fat soaked taste of fried bread. All in all NOT the worst I've ever had but at over £22 for the privileged of eating what must have cost £5 to make made this a place I will not be going back to, which is a real shame as the staff were absolutely lovely.
Barely any batter on my black pudding but it was a really nice black pudding. But slow at serving if a few are in bit maybe they can only cook one thing at a time? Or maybe just having a bad day when I was in?
Lovely freshly made food, from a couple of lovely ladies. Some cracking home crafts available too, hand made in bonny Scotland. I'll be stopping again...Food: 5/5
Disgusting haggis balls raw, smoked sausage disgusting white stuff on it an smelt bad, fish full of bones. AVOID
Believe the bad reviews, definitely oven chips, batter thick and soggy to add to it a local old woman sitting drinking alcohol started asking my partner and I personal questions then the member of staff joined in too! AVOID PLACE IS A SHAMBLES.
Wonderful local chippy in Arrochar,great food, chips were crispy and the smoked sausage was delicious. Excellent friendly customer service.Food: 5/5
