Gedling Leisure cards at a good price, all easily got online. Visit: https://www.gedling.gov.uk/leisure-card/ Great staff, friendly and happy to help. 25 metre pool Unisex changing rooms Fantastic Disabled access different swim sessions & activities great swimming lessons for all ages.
Great swim. Friendly receptionists and life guards. Not very busy so only 2 swimmers in medium speed lane.
Nice little theatre. We went to see 'we three Kings' Buddy Holly,Roy Orbison and Elvis which is a great show. Drinks are reasonably priced, bottled beers, and staff are friendly. Only grumble is, if you're not sure where you're going, the venue frontage and carpark are poorly lit. I'm a first time visitor and overshot the venue.
Used for toddler swimming. Reasonable setup bit needs more baby changing rooms. Pool is good temp for little ones and plenty of water toys. Now junior swimming update- still good but needs a bit of a more regular clean. Seems to be less than they used too in between sessions.
Excellent local pool. Always clean and friendly and helpful staff.
7 year old Grandson has been having lessons here, good teaching. Floor of changing rooms are never cleaned between 4pm and 7pm when heavy traffic of people and when the kids have lessons. Despite this, assured there is no staff shortage. Dodging clumps of hair turns my stomach. Taken this up with centre manager. He's sorry the changing rooms "are not to my liking". I'm not talking about the colour of the walls for goodness sake. Also parents/carers with mobile phones poolside and in the changing rooms. Not enforcing safeguarding for your children!
Most staff are very nice. My children's swimming teachers are very patient with the children and the children actually enjoy swimming lessons. My only problem is the bald swimming teacher who sometimes covers the class. My little girl is just starting to build her confidence in the pool but she cries everything he teaches the class. She is now anxious about going for swimming lessons. Children learn at different rates and I know my child struggles but at least she enjoys the lessons until this teacher shows up.
The Leisure Centre is a good local facility, but the car park is in a shocking state, full of pot holes. As for the parking meters, they work fine for a free ticket, but when it comes to paying for the full day for £3 a reasonable sum the machine in the centre of the car park on the right, took £3 and gave a ticket for just £1. This was in February 2023. This inevitably meant we received a parking fine; which we challenged on the day, but we didn't receive a reply. We did however, receive a greater fine which was posted to us on in March. So, not only did Gedling Borough Council fail to fix the machine or act on our original concerns, they have sent us a bigger fine. So, it's looks as though we will have to take a day off work to make our representations in court for which we will seek costs and of course quashing of the original fixed penalty.
The children’s pool is absolutely freezing, we had to get out after 20 minutes as my toddler was shivering!
If I could give 0 score I would. I tried to enrol my son for the disability swimming and was told that the gentleman who organises this was on annual leave. Emailed again to check and told he was back but was just getting himself sorted and would contact me that was 3 months ago and never heard from him. Goes to show how disadvantaged disabled people are as I'm sure if it was a straightforward swim we would have heard from then by now. My son is only 5yrs old and I dread to think the obstacles we are going to come across for him to just access services that are available to everyone else
