How the mighty have fallen. Arcadia was rare among Headingley pubs by offering a wide range of ales, both traditional cask and weird and wonderful keg offerings from a wide range of generally local breweries. Friendly, knowledgeable staff were on hand to suggest beer, and the atmosphere was brilliant for chatting among a small group of mates, without the chaos or noise of other pubs and bars in Headingley. Things have changed under the new management. Now there are televisions, cocktails, and lager and beer from large breweries on offer. Cans have gone and the number of cask lines has been reduced. I don't think Arcadia deserves to be called an ale house any more. And now, the last bastion in Headingley free from the chaos and noise of the Otley Run now welcomes the pub crawlers. I think the image below tells previous patrons all they need to know about the attitude of Market Town Taverns.
Set on several floors under the Premier Inn. The Swan Blonde was spot on .Service: 5/5
This bar used to be one of my favourites in the local community; used to have amazing beer and a great atmosphere. Now… everything is underwhelming: food I wouldn’t serve to my 10 year old verging death dog and atmosphere which has gone from amazing to just a standard over crowded bar which serves atrocious food and incredibly standard and underwhelming beers you’d find more varieties in a spoons without a shadow of a doubt. Long story short - if you are wanting a bar with personality like Arcadia used to be, I would avoid at all costs
I frequented Arcadia when I lived in pre-hipster Meanwood as there was nothing around for discerning real ale drinkers and those in favour of interesting, well kept ale and a friendly peaceful atmosphere. Now it is the complete opposite; drivel on tap and loud, obnoxious, misbehaving and generally selfish people who care not for others around them. Generic sports bar. A real shame for those who appreciate life outside of the mainstream. Good bye to a real gem.
Shame this place has changed management and has gone down market. Now full of sports screens and the Otley Run crowd in fancy dress. They should really change their name rather than trading off the reputation their predecessors took years to build. NB Terminus round the corner in Meanwood has inherited the vibe this place used to have - check it out
Awful since they changed hands. Used to be a lovely craft beer bar with a good atmosphere. Now shows sports, attracts the wrong crowds, serves boring beer and below average food. Staff were fine but not a big bearing on the overall experience. Real shame.
Completely ruined by new management. Beer choice is now poor. TVs blaring out sport and Otley run ruining the old atmosphere. Won't be going back.Food: 1/5
Always been a fan of this place, helpful and knowledgrable staff. Great beers. A tad expensive but you get what you pay for. No music, large groups or fancy dress, which provides a haven on the busy Otley Run student trail. Dog friendly, great atmosphere
This place has gone to the dogs. 2 or 3 years ago, it was a brilliant ale house with high quality beers and knowledgeable bar staff. It seems the arcadia has changed hands. The beer choice is very limited and the quality is bland. To be serving 2 theakstons beers in this day and age is an insult to what The Arcadia was once about. If you are a fan of good beers, go somewhere else.
New owners, no longer a craft beer bar. Now serves pizza & sky sports. Fridges gone, music on & mainstream ales on pump - hope it finds an identity/crowd because the old craft beer pub unique selling point is gone.
