It's just a nice place
It's a sad-looking station with nothing really going on. It has a disabled toilet, up the stairs, a small ticket office thing where there is usually someone in there. Although, the ticket office man is also the LNER dispatcher and person who gives customers assistance in and on trains. So just expect to have to wait on him as he's always busy :3 Oh yeah, he's also the station manager I think
Although the station is useable its slightly sad. There's a lot of history in the stations but nobody is upkeeping it to its glory. One point as a railway enthusiast is that the platform 3 isn't in use there is also a small siding which I'm sure could be used in one way or another if they don't want to use it why don't they get a railway coach or two and convert it into a café! would add a bit of enjoyment. it would also be nice to see it have a lick of paint. otherwise its a decent station to get where you want to go. I just feel like it has opportunity for more.
Pretty run down station, badly needs a refurbishment and lick of paint to restore it to it's former glory!nThe clocks have recently been restored by Network Rail/ScotRail with funding from Railway Heritage Trust.
Somewhat jaded and neglected from former glories, but waiting rooms have been modernised in the latest Scotrail style. The reception hall is somewhat underwhelming, with a solitary small ticket window, and door access towards the platforms, with little else.
