Great value for money. It's a nice walk around. Seeing the ants was nice. A small tunnel but great for kids. It's not such a long walk round. About 20 minutes but it's enough and good value. Parking is not free. You can use your card at the train ticket office to pay for parking
Quite pricey but a fun morning had by all. Pay and display parking right outside but get there earlier in the morning as the car park filled up quickly. The aquarium is right next to the steam train station. No toilets inside but there is on the station. A varied collection of fresh water sea life with some surprises along the way. Highly recommended!
Had an amazing experience at the Lakeside Aquarium. It is located near the ferry pier and the steam station. There’s a small cafe/restaurant right in front of the aquarium. The aquarium is well kept and is divided into sections such that each section houses creatures from a particular region. So by the end of it you have completed an aquatic world tour. It has 2 floors to be explored and there’s also a tunnel which is “a recreated journey below Lake Windermere” and has an amazing range of creatures. There are a variety of creatures - local fishes, piranha, ducks, ants etc. There are interesting mammals like otters, mice and frogs too. I was particularly impressed by the star fish and tortoises. There’s also a shop at the end of the tour with souvenirs, jewellery and toys. A great place to visit for both children and adults. Definitely recommend.
Great place to visit. Not huge but still plenty to look at. Accessible for disabled people like myself. The toilets are not inside the Aquarium but on the platform where the train goes from. Would be good to have more signage on the trackside to direct you to the Disabled toilet as their is only signage on the lake side at least that's all I could see. So the disabled toilet is along from the gents at the very end of the building on the lake side. Reasonably priced.
Good selection of animals...loved the elephant nose fish and big bellied seahorses! Took my 18month old and 4 year old and both loved it. The tanks are designed so that all ages can get close and see the animals. Great value for money...£16.99 for a family if booked in advance. Spent about 1hr - 1hr 30 looking round but could have spent longer we were stopping over on route home
A decent enough sideshow alongside some nice other nearby attractions. A great way to kill some time but I wouldn't expect to spend more than an hour here. That said I enjoyed my visit and there were some lovely unique displays and exhibits ranging from tortoises to fieldmice and naturally fish.
Don't be put off by people saying it's a twenty minute visit. We were there well over an hour. Lovely aquarium kids 6 and 7 really enjoyed it. The ants were mesmerising you could lose half an hour just watching them!
Small place, but that just means you get to see everything in one visit! The exhibits are well built and display the fish effectively, while also providing shelter. Loved the otters too - they seem well-enriched and active. Good for passing a rainy morning!
Lovely Aquarium to visit. We came of our boat cruise went for stream train ride and than stopped by Aquarium before heading back on the boat. My daughter enjoyed watching the fishes! She choose some nice sovieners from the gift shop. It's a shame the bracelets for the month of May were sold out, I would have really liked to get one for her birthday month! Can I order online or can can post it to me when back it stock of course I'll pay you!
Good place to while away time waiting for the cruise. The entire trip can be done within 20 mins at the max. Online tickets are recommended. Multiple displays of fishes, a beautiful but small tunnel to view the fishes in a different perspective. Good time for the kids as well.
