Wasnt the best staff was quite shouty at children horses and ponies got used 5-6 hours a day with a 30 min break. Ride was actually decent but pony showed discomfort in mouth saddle is well fitted but overall i enjoyed it a bit
I have been coming here a few times to get my 2 year old daughter get used to riding. As I have been a professional rider for several years, I know my way around horses and ponies and instructors! This place has amazing staff that really care about the horses and the children. They made my daughter feel more confident every time we come. They help her with getting used to ponies by brushing them and petting them after the ride. My daughter constantly talks about the ponies now and we love coming here. My only wish that it was closer to where we live as if that was the case we would have gone there every day! I've already brought another friend with a toddler and she absolutely loves it too. A great place for children to learn riding, taking care of animals and responsibilities with the bonus of such amazing, caring and friendly staff that just make your day when you see them. Thank you!!!!!
went once and will never be going again. horses are kept in tack for way to long, halters are kept on UNDER bridels at all times. not good at all since brindles are not fitting correctly but rather fitting according to the head collar. they are clearly not properly groomed i do not care how much you want to argue with me under this review because i know you will, but they dont get their manes or tails brushed, their coat doesnt get brushed the lot of it is just left, i have rarely ever seen a horse clipped, if not EVER. not even in the summer when it is extremely warm but still under saddle. horses are so over worked that they just refuse to go into the next gate despite how much they are hit with a wip or should i say a branch off a tree because we are to lazy to teach kids to work with a horse or use a crop. you do NOT get taught how to ride you are put onto a horse and told to just go. first ever time riding a horse ur taught how to have ur feet in your stirrups, hold your reins and sit correctly and thats about it, when trotting i never see or hear instructors saying “correct this, correct that” because they do not teach, found out they are insured by the council so not an actual riding place. their facilities are disgusting, their stables are n good at all they are shipping containers converted into stables. I.e a door on a shipping container right next to a road, if a horse really wanted to it can easily jump the fence that leads directly onto the main road. there is one paddock that isnt even an arena that is not good at all. horses have riders that are way to heavy, this is not meant in any kind of rude way whats so ever but putting me as a 10.2stone rider of nala is NOT fair at all same with on crystal and yes i know they are cobs and they are heavy horses but that does not mean they can take extremely heavy weights in proportion to their own weight. it is unfair and down right cruel. having GREEN horses at a “riding school” where there are CHILDREN. literally children that are still toddlers or in primary school or just any age child that are just beginning or no where near the experience level to be riding a green horse is put onto a green horses is absolutely mind blowingly stupid and just idiotic. friend comes back from stevies crying, im there saying whats wrong and their response “i was put on __ and he/she is green and i almost fell off and my ride was terrible i had them shouting at me the whole time because its apparently my fault the horse is bolting” bolting is just the start of how badly some of these horses behave. NO horse should be bolting as often as most do at stevies. maybe your odd bolt here n there but stevies horses bolt way to often you can even count and its atrocious. i will not put much more but stevie if you want to reply to this review like you have others and try and say other wise then be my guest, because what i saw and have been seeing at your yard is gross, its disgusting, it’s unprofessional and disrespectful.
I go to this place on Sundays for 2 hours and sometimes a day the horses are beautiful and the instructors are amazing teachers I definitely recommend going to stevie ansells ors the best place for horse riding they do all abilities and even adults can ride and young children.
Took my 3 year old for a toddler ride - she loved it! We now go every week plus two of my other daughters who have lessons and help out. Staff are very friendly and approachable. Would highly recommend to anyone.
