I stopped in on Saturday during a dog walk for a couple of drinks and a bit to eat. We were welcomed in even though we were wet and muddy and there was plenty of comfy seats.nWe ordered from the tapas menu. The food was t the cheapest but boy was it good! It was quick, hot and incredibly tasty.
The food was delicious. My reason for not giving a 5 star is because when I ordered a pudding I asked if the cheese cake was baked the waiter said I don't think so it's the one from costco and you charge 7.99 per slice when I can buy the whole cheese cake for £15. When we asked a different waiter for the bill she went to get it, i then noticed she had been and put her coat on and we were sat around waiting before having to ask another member of staff for the bill.
We book this almost every year for my partners birthday meal. The service is usually really good, but both left very disappointed tonight. Our meal was booked for 19.00, and it was the quietest we've seen it, usually you have to wait for your table, but tonight, a lot were empty. We were seated and ordered our meals. We asked for a drink to have with our meal, but they never arrived. We had to go to the bar mid meal to get one as after a long wait, we believed it wasn't coming and there were no staff around to ask again. The drinks we asked for never came. Usually staff do come to the table and ask if everything is okay with the meal, and sometimes offer drinks, but neither of these were done tonight.nnWe had to wait a while for the plates to be removed, and to ask for the bill. Usually a birthday board is brought out as you can specify the reason when booking which is always a lovely touch. This is the first year it didn't happen.nnI have to say, the owner has been in every time we have been before, and he could be the reason we've always received great service. We didn't see him tonight, so wondering if this is the reason?nnEverything is usually very good, but especially for the quietest we've ever seen the place, it's the worst, slowest service we have received.nnIt feels like this needs feeding back, and next year, sadly we will have to look elsewhere as this was a big birthday and a meal we were looking forward to.
We had a very poor experience this evening. An expensive Bass ruined by being drowned in sauce and a vegetarian risotto which was just mainly frozen peas. Not even a large portion of Parmesan could not rescue it. It seems that quantity was used instead of quality.nnBooking a table seemed very odd. Booking on line showed that only early booking was available yet the restaurant was very quiet all the time we were therennThe only saving grace was our waitress who was lovelynnOur first visit and sadly our last.
It's taken us ages to actually get round to booking a table but decided to take our friend here for his birthday. We were really impressed with the food and the service. I had a steak which was cooked perfectly and the chips and onion rings were amazing. The rest of the meals were great and it's a lovely atmosphere and the staff were lovely. To top it off they even brought out a surprise dessert with a candle on for the birthday boy. Thanks for a great meal.
