we popped in for Sunday lunch and even though we were near the end of the lunch session and without a booking they managed to squeeze us in.nnwe ordered 2 Sunday roasts, 1 beef 1 pork. both dinners were well stocked with parsnips, roasters, meat, carrots, broccoli and a massive Yorkshire pudding. we were also provided with a large side of cauliflower cheese and an extra amount, jug, of the delicious gravy. The meat, both the pork and beef were delicious moist and soft. the pork crackling was crunchy and the toffee apple sauce ideal for the dish. in short it was simply one of the nicest Sunday lunches I've had in a long time.nnonly one comment is that for me the roasters were fluffy/powdery centered when I prefer them more waxy.nnwell done to the staff because they were helpful, polite and attentive.nnI had to try one of the puddings suspecting that it would also be as good. the sticky toffee pudding and it was well tasty and surprisingly light. the pouring sauce included bits of dates. thought it was a little pricey at £10 and I didn't need it after the dinner I'm glad I did as this is the quality I can use for a benchmark for the future.nncongratulations to the kitchen for producing such quality food and keeping it around £30 for 2 courses
Absolutely fantastic dining experience at the Angel and Royal Hotel in Grantham! We had dinner, breakfast, and Sunday roast—all were exceptional. The seared scallops with peanut mousse and the seared tuna were beautifully presented and full of flavour. The strawberry cheesecake was the perfect finish!nnBreakfast the next morning was a real treat—cooked to perfection by the owner. And the Sunday roast? Just as impressive. Friendly staff, a warm atmosphere, and a stunning historic setting made it unforgettable.nnHighly recommended—don’t miss it if you’re in Grantham!
Attended a funeral wake and was very pleased with the service and attention given by the bar and serving staff.nThe food was excellent. Freshly made sandwiches with plenty of good quality fillings, tasty sausage rolls, and a selection of what appeared to be moist, delicious, home-made cakes and scones with clotted cream and jam.nI highly recommend this as a venue for similar functions. 10/10
Stayed 2 nights lovely historical hotel but be warned there is no lift as in most period buildings and there is no air con , we stayed on the 1st floor standard double and it was very warmnThere is a fan provided if needed .nBreakfast is at an additional cost of £18.50 pp which I felt was very expensive, there is no continental table with fruit juices,cereals or pastries the waitress asks if you want these j and it is brought to you ,no pastries thoughnThen a full English which was well cooked and tasty, although.i can't say it justified the price tag ,it was a one off stay but should we go again we would choose to eat out .nWe didn't have dinner so I can't comment .nI did have to ask for the housekeeping to dust the room thoroughly as a lot had been missed and was thick dust that had built up over a long period not just days , this was done but I feel for the room rate being charged it should have been spotless
We visited for a Sunday lunch and had a lovely time. The service was great and very personable and the food was to die for, Not to mention the amazing settings of the historic Kings Room. THE place to eat in Grantham. The food was excellent and we liked their selection of wines. You must try their chocolate Charlotte! Highly recommended.
