The staff were polite and professional. The hotel lobby looked nice and the Christmas decorations and trees were pretty. The room we stayed in was nice with a 4 poster bed. The bathroom was disappointing. The sink didnt drain properly and the toilet didn't flush properly either!nWe chose to have breakfast which we regretted. The orange and apple juice was very cheap naf and they only had cafetiere coffee. We heard other people asking for cappuccino too. The historically old dining room was interesting but cold. For £18.95 it was poor. It needs some investment and updating.
We hosted our wedding reception at the Angel & Royal Hotel, and it was everything we had hoped for and more. Marie in Events was exceptional throughout — so organised, reassuring, and genuinely caring, making sure every detail was perfect. On the day itself, Teresa, the Hotel Manager, went above and beyond to look after us, along with the whole hospitality team who were wonderful from start to finish.nKurtis Wright, the Head Chef, created an incredible menu — from delicious canapés to a three-course dinner that our guests are still raving about. The cocktails at the Angel Bar were fantastic, and the bar team were friendly, professional, and so efficient all evening.nThe whole day felt wonderfully relaxed and seamless thanks to the team’s professionalism and warmth. We’re so grateful to everyone at the Angel & Royal for helping make our wedding such a special and memorable celebration.
My sister stayed last week and unfortunately left her umbrella in her room . I phoned earlier tonight not really expecting it to be there . I spoke to a lovely lady named Ellen i hope i got i right! . She was fantastic and went above and beyond locating said umbrella and left it with reception for me to pick up in the morning. She's a credit to the team at the Angel and Royal. I hope her manager sees this. Thanks Ellen x
The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The overall ambience of the hotel was lovely and I enjoyed the Christmas trees and lights.nnThe room wasn’t the cleanest - we found hair on the bed. The bed also had a lean on the right-hand side, which was really prominent if you got too close to the edge.nnI also accidentally left an item in the room, but when I called, it hadn’t been handed in by cleaning staff. I am 100% confident it was left in the room, so I was disappointed to not be able to get it back.
If you want to stay at a historical place to sleep, this is the spot. Was fun sleeping in the four post bed. We spent a long time wondering which historical figure spent time in that same room. Maybe a Templar knight or maybe Henry VIII.nnStaff were great and helpful. Helped me store my bike in a safe place.
