Superb experience from beginning to end. Wonderful food and great service. Lovely staff. Can't wait to go back. Menu is awesome; fantastic choices! Location is also truly special.Food: 5/5
I had one of the best pasta dish I ever had in my life, including those I have had in Italy. Highly recommended restaurant. Big menu, surprisingly a few things are not what you would expect to find in an Italian restaurant but seems to be what many local customers demand, not a problem as they all looked very good.
1st time dining here but definitely won't be the last. Best and tastiest meal I've had in a long time. Excellent staff
Lovely restaurant with a fantastic view over the Atlantic. Good attentive staff. Well varied menu. Medium priced. Better than most restaurants in this area. Well worth a visit. Look out for dolphin and porpoises as well as soaking wet golfers .
Hands down, the best restaurant in the north coast. An extensive menu, with daily specials. Fresh food, cooked to perfection. I have never had an average meal in amici, always succulent, and flavoursome. The staff go above and beyond to help. My mouth is watering just writing this review!
Let me start by stating the food was really good. I mean really good. The food is worth 5 stars. The only reason it only gets 4 stars is the staff are utterly chaotic. They are working over each other, constantly shouting over each other, no one person seems to be in charge. They don't bring the food out all together, they forget what was ordered. One of the guests we ate with had a starter he hadn't ordered and was about to dig in when it was whipped away to land on somebody else's table. I ordered the tagliata medium rare... what I got was a range between rare and blue, one slice being so blue I couldn't eat it... and I was never given the opportunity to say, wasn't asked if everything was OK. All I can presume is the waitress didn't take my order properly. Maybe it was the larger table of 8 that they couldn't cope with... it certainly felt like they stuck a table in the most inconvenient place possible where noisy staff were constantly squeezing past, like we were in the way. But the food was good.
Set on the old course at Portstewart it looks out over the sea. A beautiful location. It has a wide ranging Italian menu with good wood fired pizza. Good kids menu and gluten free options, lots of specials.
Food was very good however the service was not great. The staff was very friendly but also very slow. When asking for the bill and card machine they came over fast but then left with the machine before I could pay leaving me waiting 15mins I then had to go to the counter and ask to pay then got a very rudely spoken reply that the machine would be brought over leaving me waiting another 15mins. On the up side the truffle cream pasta was amazing. Pizza was ok nothing special.
We have been to Amici several times before and have always been really happy with the food, perfectly cooked. We dined tonight and ordered our usual, the steak combo platter, medium rare. Cutting into the first steak, we realised it was overcooked and then checked the other two to be sure, but they were all overcooked. Our food was sent back and then we were visited by the FOH manager who advised us that the chef was "happy enough that the sirloin had been overcooked but was satisfied that the other two cuts were done medium-rare." She said they would keep the other two cuts warm and refire the sirloin. We asked that the other two be sent back out to us because we didn't want them turning rubbery sitting in the window. When the refire arrived, we were dismayed to see that it was cooked exactly the same as before, that is, overdone. Realising that there was no use in insisting on medium-rare as the chef clearly disagreed, we decided to just eat the steaks as we were starving, but all three were dry and tough. I have firstly, rarely sent food back, and further, never had a refire refused. Medium rare steak has a red middle, but all three of our steaks were pink/brown. We were comped our drinks as a kind gesture, for which we were grateful, and the server was considerate and attentive, but we were quite disappointed with the food and further in shock about how it was handled.
It was great to find a restaurant with the view of the coast. The food was decent, I had the fried prawn to start and the sea bass main. Both were flavoursome and fresh. The tiramisu however was rather disappointing, it was basically a large cup of cream without much flavour and some ready made lady fingers that aren’t even soaked in coffee - this wasn’t the sort of tiramisu I expect.
