Great way of seeing the lakes, some excellent cruises on offer, including a walkers boat to Wrey Castle,and a combined ticket to the Lakeland Motor Museum . There is an excellent commentary on the cruise, the larger boats Swan ,Teal ,Tern are vintage boats kept in magnificent working order. There is a Shuttle bus that runs in the day time from the cruise terminal at Waterhead to Ambleside town centre .

It was a very good day at the cruises. I had luck with the weather and i took great pictures. The boats are good, tidy and clean, the staff is very friendly and I always had a smile to my questions. I would say that you should choose the "freedom tickets day" because once a week they have this ticket for the same price and you can use any boat at any time. With that ticket you can take your time at any stop because you can always get the next boat. I also did the steam train, and it was quite good. The trains are very old (as they should) and well kept and tidy. It's about a 20 to 30 minutes trip to each side, through a lovely rail. I say it was a very good time and 21£ (adult price) was very good value!

Always call for a beer and wine in the pier cafe at the start of our weekend away in the lakes before going to bowness for the day. Great little cafe with a good selection of food.

What a beautiful scenric place with breathtaking views. Waterfall is just 20 minutes of walk. Fish and chips taste so good even the air feel a lot cleaner. Boat ride is a must.
