Ambleside Fish Bar

A very strange chip shop. With a very odd menu no options for chicken and chips for one person. Nope you get a whole tray £5 and £4 for a bag of chips. Which would be a good deal if you was feeding a family of 6. Absolutely useless as someone eating on my own. Never seen anything like it. However the chip and chicken was nice. Shame so so much had to go in the bin. Also most of the menu was pretty pricey for what is a very standard dated looking chipshop Parking: 12 Wheelchair accessibility: Parking outside. Poor value for the fish. I’ve had a couple of poor value home deliveries and have given the benefit of the doubt, but after the third poor meal in succession I have to say something. The chips are brilliant. There’s the big positive. But the fish! Looks big, but it’s mostly batter - takes up a lot of space on the plate, but is all golden brown and very little white. Over £20 for a mini fish & a ‘normal’ fish plus a regular chips is never worth it. Ambleside, please give some assurance or you’ll lose me as a customer.

asked for mixed meat and got only chicken, asked for salted chips and they weren’t salted! heard great things about this chippy so thought i’d give them a go.. very disappointed and will not be returning

Portions are huge!! Decent value for money, just always busy so there’s always a queue. Worth the wait though.

Large portions.. Fish is the biggest in Worcester. Also fresh & not greesy. Lovely food & always a friendly welcome. Great to see Tony & his family back..

We have used Ambleside for a long time and has always been great however the last few deliveries we have had have been poor chips, fish and chicken meat have been barely Luke warm and the curry sauce has been scolding hot we have had to microwave the food to get it warm enough to eat also the chicken meat was so dry it was hard to swallow even before reheating it which is such a shame. Don't no what's going on with this business but I think they need to go back to the way they were when they reopened and everything was hot fresh and delicious as the past few months have been shocking. I think will find another chippy to order from for a while as £25+ paid is not the worth of goods we are receiving. Which I'm sorry to have to say as Ambleside has always been good in the past. I hope you truly pay attention to this and either improve packaging & hot hold temps of food. And also provide your delivery drivers with thermal heat bags to aid in keeping food hot.

Shut down for a while, but I love this chippy. Their Chinese curry sauce is delicious. The staff are so lovely and friendly. On the whole good food, although the fish can be a little greasy. Perhaps wrap separately.
