There seems to be a lot of negative reviews recently so I felt compelled to write about my good experience. Called to get an appointment for a mole to be looked at, got one within 2 weeks, Dr Dhange was very helpful, kind and knowledgeable. The surgery is clean and tidy and the receptionists were really friendly. 5 stars!
This surgery has really gone downhill and it's quite frightening the effects this is having on my terminally ill father. Last summer we were promised by a GP that referrals would be made to the pain management clinic, falls clinic and memory clinic. Following an emergency hospital admission at Christmas, we learned the memory clinic referral was never made and the on call psychiatrist did this himself as an urgent referral. Since then, I have learned the the referrals to the falls clinic despite requests by the district nurses and the pain management clinic have also never been made. Letters from the oncology department haven't been reaching the surgey or my father so not an AMC issue, however we were told by a GP they'd get the practice surgeries to chase this up as they were unable to refer to the Community Palliative Care team for in-home pain management until they had the letter. This was in January, it's now April and after contacting the Oncology secretaries who got straight back to me they can find no trace of AMC asking for these letters. This means a terminally ill 73 year old man with stage 4 cancer has been left in tears due to increasingly severe pain levels because 1a referral was never made over 6 months ago and 2communication between the GPs and office team, and between the team and the hospital appear to be non-existent. It's honestly frightening what else might be getting missed behind the scenes. I do want to add there are some GPs who have been amazing and done their best with home visits, etc, they've just been let down by their colleagues and back office issues.
AVOID! The team is entirely dysfunctional. The reception made my daughter an appointment when they were shut, then tried to lie that they didn't but I had proof, I made a complaint which was never responded to. I asked for an autism assessment for my other daughter last summer, they STILL have not sent it off claiming missing paperwork - they should have sent it regardless and sent additional paperwork when they had it and they definitely shouldn't have waited half a year before contacting me about missing paperwork! This referral was already delayed due to doctors not knowing who to refer too! That was an unnecessary roundabout. Now they've cancelled an appointment for my toddler booked by 111 saying they made 5 calls which I didn't receive, they said it was my phone that was faulty despite the fact my phone not only received their text message but also other phonecalls! So it is in fact THEIR phone lines that are faulty. Now my daughter has been left in pain by them, told me to try again tomorrow, they should have made alternative arrangements for her to be seen by someone even an out of hours. I've had a male doctor try to gaslight me into thinking nothing is wrong with my daughter, then her genetic testing came back and she had a rare disease. I've had another male doctor try to gaslight me into thinking there's nothing wrong with me, then my blood tests came back with a ferritin level of 6! I've been anemic for a long time on the same old pills with little improvement, they've never offered an infusion. I think they're a bunch of liars. Their incompetence will CAUSE you mental health problems by causing constant anxiety and stress, making you chase and chase and chase and write complaints that get ignored. Dealing with the surgery and their unhelpful staff will make you angry, it will leave you sick. They are putting children's health at risk but way of their incompetence.
The reception team has always been very friendly but I have been trying to get an appointment for a constant ear infection since November but haven’t succeeded. I am in extreme amounts of pain and have to rely on going to a walk in clinic now.
The new appointment system is bad. unable to make follow up appointments and wait for hours for someone to get back to you when you phone for an urgent appointment.
Very happy with those surgery. Not too much of a problem getting an appointment and really nice doctors and staff
I've been trying to get some test results today, the ladies on the phone were so helpful and went the extra mile to ensure I had the information I needed. This is not the first time I've had to ask the staff for additional support to seek information and they don't let me down. Super Dr Goash and the asthma nurses are fantastic too. The only negative is the busy phone lines but I expect that is unavoidable presently winter 2022/23
I cannot fault the practice. The phone system is excellent call back request is the best thing they’ve ever put in place! They are excellent with our children and any investigations I have needed have been timely and thorough. My recent support from a member of the office team have prompted me to write the review, as she went above and beyond to ensure my daughter was referred and showed me so much compassion when I was clearly in distress. When the NHS are under such strain, it is impressive to be able to deliver such care. Definitely deserving of 5 stars. Thank you
I arranged an appointment over the phone this morning with a friendly and polite receptionist as I had something stuck in my foot and my foot felt very painful to walk on. On arrival at the surgery, the receptionist was very courteous and I didn't have to wait very long in the waiting room for my appointment. Nathan was very pleasant and approachable and he offered advice on how to relieve the pain and get the object out of my foot and if the foot salt bath doesn't help, go to the walk in centre. I would definitely recommend Nathan if you have any problems. Thank you Nathan and the receptionist that booked me in. I couldn't have asked for better service which was arranged at such short notice. You're doing a fantastic job in these difficult circumstances.
Terrible service from Alvaston medical centre, told one thing yesterday by staff to phone for an appointment first thing this morning as they can't prebook anything to phone up at 8am and be number 1 in the queue to be told no appointments today, but I can prebook for Monday next week after travelling back to Derby and taking a day off work due to having a medication review at this practice again to be told its a phone call and not with a Doctor. The staff and owners should be ashamed.
