Brilliant walk up onto the top of the hills. Stunning views. Great for the dog. There are sheep in the grazing fields on the slopes up to the top there were non being that. The paths are pretty good but you can go off piste. There are woodlands along the lower slopes. Amazing views.
So so sooooo lovely, and we didn't even do the whole walk! Lovely to be outdoor and wooed by the sound of the water. So peaceful. We had 2 young Kiddies and only managed so far - AND with a buggy! It might be the first dam we made it to, we're not sure.... it gets a bit rough after that. The eldest managed the walk too but I had to hold his hand tight. Lots of sheer drops and the hence ain't gonna hold in some part. Some are metal wired so those are not the strongest, the solid metal ones are fine but just don't chance it! They're too curious to what to see what's down there!! There are some staircases but also some slopes so we found the slopes as much as we can and then hubby did all the steps work with the buggy. Like I said, it's doable up until the first dam really so, potentially next time we'll just try and do it without the buggy and see how far again we can go. Dog-friendliness: Saw quite a few dog walkers, you will need to hold on to them as well as some tracks aren't fence and they will go straight down...
Beautiful glen. Very clean, thanks to volunteers. Little pond has dried up just now and not much water over fall. Great for kids. Worth going to the top for the view. Restrooms: No restrooms. Dog-friendliness: Great to take dogs. Picnic area: The picnic area has been rejuvenated, looks great. Thanks to volunteers.
A nice, not too long hiking tour exposing some typical countryside scottish charms: lush green scenery, deep carved ravines, dug by millions of year of water flow and a myriad waterfalls. When we were there the route to the smugglers cave was closed.
This is a truly beautiful place, though plagued by litter… For many years I’ve seen the Ochils off in the distance and never really ventured in to them. Today that changed and on the whole it was a lovely experience. We trekked up the Glen with our 6 & 10 yr old who managed the steep paths without too much bother. There’s places where you will definitely want to guide younger children as there’s steep drops, but it’s very doable. I was really disappointed by the amount of litter, particularly below the benches. I just don’t understand the mindset of people who put the effort into going to these beautiful places, just to then trash them. There’s some great swimming holes here if you’re willing to try. We went dipping at Smugglers Cave and behind the highest dam. Slightly chilly!
Beautiful location along with Dollar Glen. Great walking and picnicking location. We followed the path up the ravine to smuggler's cove and then headed left over the fields and down to Alva golf course. A leisurely walk of a couple of hours.
Loved everything about this place! Beautiful walk up to see the waterfall. It was quite steepy at the most beautiful spot, but that did not stop us! Lots of people come to have picnics and children and dogs love it here. The landscape is really beautiful from up there.
Great walk with a couple of waterfalls, Smugglers Cave, great views down towards Alva and just very peaceful walk in nature.
Fantastic place for hiking and see lovely cave on one side but really steep and dangerous and other side nice walk thru the hill and forest..keep ur dog on leash coz sheep on hills
Beautiful hike the way up through the stream coming down. Fair hike all the way up to the cave. Will take you a couple of hours for both ways.
