Built inside the existing St James' Church, Alter Rock has been expanding since May 2008.

New climbing surface added in 2010 doubled the roped climbing area and brought us a new traverse area. We also have an indoor arial assault course where you swing from tyres and loops high up in the rafters of the church. And you can even go caving in the Labyrinth Cave which adds extra fun for parties.

We alos have a mini campus board and beastmaker training board. New routes and problems are set every week.

Come and have some fun, learn a new skill or brush up on some old techniques. We have something for everyone!!

The place to go for a fantastic all round rock climbing gym. With great challenging routes set very regularly, a mix of terrain and route length from full lead routes down to bouldering and traverse walls and even an indoor cave! Fantastic friendly staff to which is brilliant!
Booked before. 3 children 1 adult. Everyone enjoyed and improved on their best efforts at climbing. Staff friendly and helpful. Non participants can encourage and take photos /video etc. Great after Christmas activity.
What an amazing place. Brilliant place. Value for money yes it certainly is. Staff super friendly and way above and beyond helpful. It's about climbing. Super for a birthday. One hour ot 2 hours. 2 hours and best money spent on a birthday party ever. So much to do. Forget your go ape things. You need to get to places such as this. Well done everyone.
Great place, loads of climbs. Lots of different abilities. Took 19 kids 6-7 Yr old, they loved it
Excellent if somewhat strange location for a climbing school, a disused church. It's a little chilly, so make sure you wrap up warm in the coldest months. The kids loved it, 4 hours of fun for only £15 each, bargain. I will be booking again the next opportunity I get.
Great centre for climbing the staff are super helpful and knowledgable - Shout out to Meagen for always going the extra mile! They have a great junior programme and our boys are really enjoying learning.

Very welcoming and inclusive. We booked a wrong session but Colin was determined to accommodate a session for us and spent time to explain the options for future visits.
Excellent place and lovely staff. Yesterday, Tom looked after our children and he was absolutely amazing: he quickly memorised all names there were 8 children in the group! to personalise the experience and he made sure that everybody in the group felt confident and had fun. When we spoke to other parents in our group, they were equally impressed. Good staff make all the difference so I hope that the Alter Rock management team look after Tom and other rock stars pun intended well. The girl at reception was also great but unfortunately I didn't catch her name.
