FOOD GOOD NOTHING ELSE!! So went here because I was offered 50% off through a separate loyalty scheme if I had to pay full price it would have less stars not because of the food but the service. Good points food was nice, it was succulent pieces of meat and salad etc was fresh prices are reasonable for this area of London THATS ALL FOLKS Bad points menu was ripped and hard to read made us sit right next to oven and extractor fan was off so almost died of smoke inhalation took over 30 mins to get food although only 2 other people in restaurant staff lacked English so much it was difficult to just tell them what we wanted or ask directions to the toilet after finding where the toilet was be prepared to walk up a thousand stairs small restaurant To summarise I would go again because the food was good but expect long delays and bad bad customer service. Plus this is not a place for disabled people who use wheelchairs.
This restaurant must be the best in terms of food quality, it has been in business in London for a long time , they kept their unique yet upscale standard since I have tried them year ago . Such a lovely experience, real genuine and native taste of Persia .
I have been going to Alounak for more than 15 years. Yasmine who served us was attentive and an absolute delight. The tafton bread is freshly made in a traditional clay oven, served with the mixed starter which includes the houmous, mashed aubergine, aubergine with tomato and salad olivere. For mains we had the mixed grill, the portions are big enough to feed two people. Rice, salad, chicken and lamb. Also, I recommend trying the Ghormeh Sabzi, it's one of the restaurants specials on a Friday and Saturday. Lemonade is freshly made and delicious. There is a queue almost every time I visit, but definitely worth the wait. This place is authentic with a simple menu, portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.
Wow. Packed with locals. Warm, traditional and delicious Persian cuisine. My lamb kebab with rice, salad and hot pickle was beyond superb. I highly recommend. Lovely, attentive staff. I will be back
Great food the meat kabab was great and tasty but I wouldn’t recommend the chicken it was below average to be honestRecommended dishesSkewers of Lamb
The best thing about this place is the ambiance. We were seated right next to the oven and were able to observe as the bread was made. The smell from the oven was amazing.Recommended dishesMixed Starter Platter
Good experience overall, the food was good and the staff were attentive Koobideh wasn’t the best I had but Chenjeh was alright The mixed platter on the starter menu is a great way to taste some favourite dishes, minus the homous… that could be swapped with Mast-o-moosir which is a more authentic Persian starter/side Also not too sure about the deserts menu, only two options and the Baklava was a bit dry
The food is acceptable. We ordered a mix grilled. I think the grilled lamb meat was tastier than Chicken. Regarding the price was a little bit over what we expected. I highly recommend the bread which is baked in front of us.
Very average food. Greeted as one solo diner and met with a look of hesitation. The place did not have a table for one person as most were 3-4 diners. A better layout is perhaps advised. Secondly, I ordered the mixed kebab and the taste of the chicken was really plain whereas the minced meat kebab was better. Won't rush to come again but this place can be improved with small things and I hope that it can be more friendlier to the single diner who may come after the gym. Thanks
I know this place since they opened. Service is not good most of the time but their food was fine and this is why I kept going. I was there yesterday again and my chicken was dry, overcooked. No taste. My friend said the same later and she is the one who also liked going there. The lamb part was good. The dish I have ordered was the one which I usually have when I go there. It was such disappointment. It looked great but the taste was not there. Their freshly squeezed juices were always nice and I used to order them but I would not be paying £6 for a glass of pomegranate juice.
