Can't comment on the rooms as we only visited for a drink however as soon as you walk into this quaint little village bar and restaurant you get a lovely feeling. Very clean and homily. We sat outside in there amazing garden which to my surprise had a pizza bar and beautiful apple trees. This little hidden gem is definitely worth a visit.
After months of prevaricating, we finally visited the Allanton Inn. It was a joy to be there! A very friendly but quite natural welcome - something which is a rarity - and quick, attentive service. It was a quiet evening for them, but it was obvious that the recommendations we had had were entirely accurate. The menu was very interesting, and we enjoyed the food enormously - three courses each - and without reservation. It is probably slightly over average price for the area, but with the quality on offer, we certainly had no complaint about that.
We have stayed here twice now as a weekend getaway. The food is great, the staff and owners are all very friendly and helpful and everything is spotlessly clean. If you want fancy accommodation then this is not the place for you. If you like homely, cosy and comfy with heart warming food then chose the Allanton.
Well kept beer, fresh food cooked to order. Very polite and friendly staff along with friendly locals! It is great that the ornaments and books are not fixed to the shelves. Walkability: Whiteadder river only a few hundred yards away.
Stayed here 1 night for work. Had a, great night's sleep. The fish and chips main is superb. Huge pice of flakey fish. Yum yum. Very powerful shower and good WiFi. Can't complain at all. Would stay again without an issue Rooms: Good WiFi. comfy bed. Powerful shower
Husband found this amazing little place, stunning location, sitting in the Beer Garden with view over the surrounding countryside. Food was fantastic, fresh and full of flavour. Can thoroughly recommend the apple crumble made from the fruit in the garden. Wonderful friendly and attentive staff. Keep up the good workService: 5/5
Was pleased we booked a table, otherwise we'd not have been eating here! Excellent quality food, locally sourced where possible and very tasty. Nice selection on menu; our party of 4 all opted for fish or meat based mains. Haddock particularly good. Portion sizes generous. None of us had room for dessert, but 3 had one anyway! Wine/ale selection great too. Would highly recommend and would suggest booking ahead.
Called in on the off chance after being recommended. A brilliant welcome from staff and locals alike. A surprising and individual menu led us to eating all three courses. A fine pint on draught, a good wine list, a very interesting decor all added to the good vibe. The food was outstanding, starter, main and sweet were faultless and led to discussion on what was in the dish that lifted it so. Well done to all at the Allanton Inn, we are looking forward to going back.
The Allanton Inn and staff are absolutely incredible. We arrived late on the Friday evening and received such a warm welcome. The rooms were gorgeous and clean. The food was amazing, so much better than I was expecting. For lunch I had duck leg, watermelon and feta salad...so good!! All really good value for money as well. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It really is wonderful.
Beautiful pub with a stunning setting. We were on holiday and discovered it too late to take full advantage by buying food such as the fresh pizzas but we enjoyed our drink. The owner was really affable, chatting to us and delighting in our little man picking an apple from the tree.Service: 5/5
