Called in for a coffee, the restaurant was beautifully decorated & furnished & looked really welcoming. We were immediately informed that there was no table service & that we had to order at the bar, despite the fact that there were a lot of staff there. They had hot chocolate but no cream or marshmallows, no cakes of any kind, and before we could ask we were told they had no snacks of any sort to go with my glass of wine. Why bother with coffees etc if you don't really want to do it ??disappointing.
Passed by the Allangrange as part of our NC500 trip. We were given a friendly welcome and shown to our rooms. Good sized double room ensuite. Spotlessly clean. We were invited for a meal downstairs in the pub/restaurant - very good food, thoroughly enjoyed the mussels, sticky toffee a delightful finish. Would recommend this beautiful establishment.
We received a very warm welcome at The Allangrange as did Layla the cockapoo! The food was excellent and the ambience was lovely. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We were lucky enough to hear the opening numbers by the singer Tony on Friday evening and would have stayed had we not been tired after a long drive. We enjoyed it so much that we returned for dinner on Sunday when I had the most delicious halibut. Highly recommend a visit here if you are on the Black Isle.
Fantastic food, great service, lovely environment. They made us aware they were short staffed due to illness so we were expecting delays. However, the service was still excellent and the food still amazing quality. Highly recommend. The fact they allow dogs into one area is brilliant. I wish more places did! If you are visiting the Black Isle the Allangrange is definitely a place to eat and even more so if you have a dog. Absolutely fabulous we had no complaints only praise!
Really lovely food, we had the festive menu which included a really delicious vegetarian tart with delicious home made pastry. Great to have a vegetarian option that includes sides of vegetables much more unusual than you would think. My husband had the salmon dish which he said was great. Good friendly service.Food: 5/5
This place was a little odd... We walked in and asked if they had a table spare for 5 for lunch and they asked us if we had a reservation... Fair enough, but the place was virtually empty with only 2 other diners in the place! Then they kept us waiting whilst the staff decided whether they wanted our business. Thankfully a more senior Waitress arrived who seated us and took our order. The food was OK, a bit of a limited menu, but if you wanted somewhere to eat you would just stay. The venue was quite nice and I imagine in summer this place would be a great place for drinks on a Saturday afternoon!
The listing describes a warm pub / hotel. After a 5 hour ride in torrential rain we arrived. No where to dry any gear. Pub was marginally warmer than the car park. The twin room did not have central heating, just a tiny oil filled rad. If you do venture this way, head back to Inverness if you need warmth. Positives. Staff are polite, room was decent apart from temperature. Didn't eat , so no score for food. I wouldn't stay again unless at the height of summer.
My husband and I stayed the night at this lovely little hotel, and loved the thought and detail that is shown in the rooms and restaurant. We also ate dinner here, and could honestly say it was the best food that we have had thus far on our trip we are from the US, although my husband grew up not far from Munlochy. We had the steak dinner with prawn, the venison hump steak with mushrooms and veg, and a steaming pot of mussels that were freshly delivered from the bay. The local red lager beer was lovely, and some steaming pots of tea rounded out our evening perfectly. You’ve got to try this place—great service, food, and atmosphere!
Amazing pub! They were dog friendly and the staff was great. My partner had the regular fish and chips, I had the vegan version and it was delicious ! Highly recommend
Lovely setting and wonderful food. Very reasonably priced and great service . Must go during the holidays … recommend the Sunday roast and sticky toffee pudding, amazing!
