Another great meal at my favourite Moroccan restaurant. Always fantastic food and good service within a friendly welcoming atmosphere.
Fantastic spot for delectable 'authentic-with-a-twist' cuisine Such attentive, professional service, clean, warm and romantic - it's a favourite. I read the bad reviews and inquired... ignore them! There was a function and the guests showed up late, showed up more people than expected, got free drinks! How dare they give this local treasure bad reviews!! Give this gorgeous food a go and you'll see how fresh, flavourful and fantastic it is. Took me years to try this spot and so happy I did. The owner is right there on the floor giving 100% to every diner. It's a proper 'must try whitstable institution' People have complained about the trains coming over.... ah... It's under the arches Einstein's - enjoy the authenticity! Duh.
Went for the first time, the menu isn't huge but what is on there still makes it difficult to pick. I had the goats cheese with beetroot and spinach, it was so good and the portion size wasn't too much that I felt I would struggle with my mains. I finally chose the slow cooked beef, have to say one of the best tasting beef dishes ever. We chose a local wine to go with it, superb! We will definitely be coming back here, the food was great, the staff were very friendly and helpful and I loved the fact that every so often you could hear the slight rubble of the trains going overhead, it's under the railway arches for anyone who isn't local. A great little place.
Good fun lively atmosphere. Menu was limited but covered off key Moroccan dishes. Average prices of around £20 a head for starter main and a beer. Food was good quality and cooked well but not overly exciting. The venue itself is in a converted railway arch, the rumble of the trains overhead a nice quirky touch. Friendly staff but slow service, which is fine if you're not in a hurry.
Absolutely gorgeous meal, and being Moroccan growing up on authentic food this was incredible, just tasted divine , just as I have enjoyed it when in North Africa. The manager on duty today was really hospitable and welcoming too. I can't recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back.
The food was very delicious and well cooked. For being outside of London the food was very traditional however I feel like they dialled down the spice to cater to the people of Kent who generally don’t want extremely hot traditional food. A train goes past every half an hour and it’s about a 10 second rumble but this really isn’t a problem. The service was good overall and the staff were polite and attentive. The wait time for the food was slightly longer than average but this allowed us to chat and enjoy our meal. The prices aren’t bank breaking however they are slightly above Whitstable's mid market prices with starters averaging between £4-£7 and mains £13-£15 with sides costing £4.50. Overall it is a great restaurant in Whitstable that differs from the rest of the cuisine on offer. It is a hidden gem.
The food was excellent when it eventually came but unfortunately the service was average at best. We had to ask the waiting staff for another bottle of wine and drinks instead of being offered them on every occasion, coupled with the fact that our food took over 45 minutes to come out and then when it did there was one of our parties dishes missing to which we were told it would be another 15 minutes didn't contribute to a great dining experience which is a shame as the meal itself was great. We could have just caught them on a particularly busy day or they were short staffed but the service was not what I would expect from a restaurant in town where everyone talks
Fantastic meal for my birthday last night. There were, from what I could see three big groups of 20 + people we were a group of four, so the staff were very busy but we were still made to feel special and looked after. Couldn't recommend the food, atmosphere and people enough. Everyone must go to The Alimo! Thanks for a great night guys.
Booked a table of 10 for my wife's graduation party. From the very first reservation phone call, I could tell that we were in for a treat. The call was dealt with professionally and the gentleman was friendly & helpful. I arrived earlier in the evening to decorate the table and was eagerly helped by one of the owners & staff. Throughout the night, all of the management & staff looked after us to perfection. Attentive, friendly, jokey & genuine....the venue has a real warmth and authenticity about it. The food was excellent and just as you would expect from Moroccan cuisine - fragrant & well thought out. I highly recommend that you visit Ali & Mo !! and their team and treat yourselves to a brilliant night out.
Lovely Andalusian/Maroccan restaurant with friendly and attentive staff and a comfortable authentic atmosphere. Food was excellent, although prices were rather on the upper end of average for this area. The wine was what you'd expect from the UK and does not compare to those from continental Europe. Overall, we paid £25 per person for excellent food, drinks and a dessert to share, so well worth it.
