Fantastic place to walk your dog s. There are several different trails to follow they all differ in length and skill whether you are walking or cycling. Highly recommend the café you are able to take your dog in with you which is great if you're alone and in need of a coffee. There is even a dog washing station if needed. If you own a spaniel it is needed... There are benches and picnic tables dotted around if you're in need of a rest or love to have a picnic in beautiful surroundings. There's plenty to keep children happy with walks and adventures and amazing playgrounds. Definitely worth a visit you will find amazing things to do and learn.
Fabulous . Well managed forest with lots of parking, facilities, cafe and many activities on site for a variety of interests. Juniors have good play park and Gruffalo walk. Adults have walks, bikes etc..... worth a visit if in the area. Parking is charged depending on duration. Restrooms: At the visitor center!
We went to try out the new accessible route , and wow what a fantastic surprise. There are now 2 "Trampers" which are like a cross between a mobility scooter and a quad bike. These are for hire to people who have mobility problems so they can wander around the pathways. What a brilliant idea. My son absolutely loved it. He said it made him feel so much more independent. Alice Holt have spent 100k improving the pathways to make it accessible for everyone, so even if you are unable to use a Tramper hand control needed like a motorbike then it's still perfectly accessible with a wheelchair. Alice Holt is dog friendly, with plenty of parking. There are other activities such as various bike hires, playgrounds,a Gruffalo trail, and a good cafe. Very helpful staff too. Playground: Playground on site which children were enjoying. Restrooms: Bathrooms by the entrance which look v clean. Dog-friendliness: Very dog friendly. Picnic area: Picnic area if you don't want to use the cafe.
Went here after every one seemed to be raving about how good it was and to be honest I don’t see the attraction! The facilities are not the greatest, out of 3 cubicles in the toilets 2 were blocked! The carpark was extortionate, £13.50 for 4 hours. The play area was pretty basic and the play trial didn’t exactly cry out ‘play’ And I don’t recall seeing any bins anywhere! It’s not somewhere I’d rush back to in a hurry!
Our grand daughter loved the Gruffalo trail, the Alice Holt Forest is such a great venue for young and old.
A properly brilliant place to come for a day out. It's a real shame that there aren't more places like it. If you have kids, dogs, or enjoy cycling, this is a fantastic place to visit. There's myriad paths and patches of woodland to get lost in, and a number of playgrounds for the children to wear themselves out on. Unfortunately, they removed two of the older ones recently, and the giant pirate ship at the visitor centre is no more, but there's still plenty left. The cafe offers the usual fare for somewhere like this, with the added bonus of the forest kitchen outside. They had pulled pork when we visited last that smelt great. The downside, as with so much as of late, is that it can get very expensive very quickly. There's a good amount of seating outside though, and we usually take a picnic. There's a Go Ape on-site if you fancy something a little different. The only real cost if you avoid everything else is parking. A whole day is £13.50 which when you consider that all the other fun stuff is free of charge is a cracking deal. Since we first came here a few years back, it's become a family favourite, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
Plenty of things for kids to do even on a wet, cold, winter day. Lots of play equipment around the centre and the walks. Den building and rivers to paddle in. Clean, heated toilets. A well stocked cafe plus lots of tables for DIY picnics. Playground: Challenging, well maintained and clean even in mid winter Restrooms: Clean and heated Picnic area: Plenty of tables for DIY picnics
Great place. The Gruffalo trail was great. My little one loved finding all the sculptures.
Walked the Gruffalo trail which was really nice, kept my 5 yo entertained especially with all the play areas along the way. Lots of activities going on as well but like Zorb football, archery and laser quest in the woods. The queue for ice cream at cafe was way too long and could have done with some more staff serving. They could do with some more pic nic benches on the Gruffalo walk.
Wonderful, truly wonderful. This place is full of everything that you would want for a great day out in the countryside. They have a bike- hire, so you can get a bike to ride around all the footpaths and ponds, oh, and the Big Lake. They have all kinds of bikes, including many that are suitable for every kind of disabled people. Playground: It is a great place for children of all ages. Restrooms: Nice clean toilets. Dog-friendliness: You will see dogs everywhere in the forest, so get out your dog leads and go. Picnic area: There is a great picnic area, but you can sit and have a picnic almost anywhere.
