Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Prices are okay, service was quick - on the other next to us there were just another table with 5. Drinks, coke and coke Zero, were not that fresh/ good tasting. For the annoying kid the personal is not responsible, that's the task for the parents.
The Ali Raj was very disappointing! Food was awful- we ordered an achari lamb curry, the pieces of lamb were hardly edible & tasted of no achar whatsoever. It tasted of blended tomatoes nd lemon juice with 3 pieces of lamb in. To top it of- I was given a burnt naan to enjoy. The only reason I'm giving a 1 star is because of the half decent decor & music. Overall very disappointed & a waste of my hard earned money.
Sorry to say this is one of the worst indian food i ever encountered. Won't suggest anyone even if you are desperately hungry. Food is too oily and tastes so bad. Quantity is not adequate. Very depressed after visiting this place.
Only kerhai was good. Biryani was sad looking and taste, not even near to what actual biryani tastes like. Very small portion size. Ice creams are good.

As always the Ali Raj has great service and great food. There is a 20% discount if you collect your food order which makes it much better value then some other indian take aways. We did notice that there was less meat and more sauce this time around, which is more an indication of the hard economic times we are all facing. But the food was still ti the same high standard we have come to expect. Having eaten from several other local Indian restaurants in the area this one is my favorite and the certainly the customer service is always great.

Thankfully found this superb takeaway Ali Raj on the way home in Westbrook -I had a terrible experience with Simla takeaway in Cliftonville this same evening - and they kept us waiting with shocking excuses 1 hr 20 and had to cancel . We dreaded going home to tell the family ! Ali Raj got it ready for us especially and the portions and service were exceptional ! Finally a winner !
