Absolutely delicious brownies - that we got on two good to go so there’s no food waste and it’s an absolute steal the brownies were amazing and the staff were so lovely. The lovely woman serving me let me choose the brownie for the box too which was so lovely of her. The cafe is so quirky and lovely and I definitely recommend popping in if you’re in Manchester- deansgate
I had my engagement cake made from Alex's Bakery, and Alex was super helpful throughout the whole process! Clear and quick communication and no issues in making my cake design, it turned out perfectly from the pictures I sent! The cake tasted great and had many compliments, highly recommend their vanilla and strawberry flavour. Overall a great experience, I would highly recommend them for cakes for any event event.
I ordered a Neapolitan style custom cake from Alex's Bakery for a birthday. What a showstopper! The restaurant we were in came to a standstill when it was brought out as everyone came over to take a look. The cake is delicious too, with different flavoured layers of soft sponge. The turnaround from ordering to collection was also fast. We will be back if we ever finish this huge cake!.
Had a lovely experience with Alex’s Bakery! I requested a fondant cake and was surprised that the bakery said they would make it at such short notice I contacted them about day and a half ahead. The cake had great pricing and turned out lovely.
I ordered the jammy dodger fault line cake for my mum's birthday. It looked incredible, the attention to detail was amazing and it was a really tasty cake. The icing in particular was delicious! We didn't manage to eat it all on the day, but the cake easily separated into three tiers which made it super simple to store in the freezer. This was such a beautiful cake, I was so excited to come and pick it up and it didn't disappoint, my mum absolutely loved it.
Lovely bakery shop… Staff is friendly and amazing . My daughter believed that this shop has the most delicious croissant with cheese in the world : And my son said the same for the brownies: By the way , this is our third visit since we arrived Manchester 4 days ago.
I tried this place following their reviews. I got a brownie which was delicious and a cappuccino. The coffee wasn’t good I am afraid, tasted of just very hot milk. I would have taken it back but I got it as a takeaway and was already away from the store when I went to drink it. I’m sure this is only a one off as their other reviews are great. I will return for another brownie for sure but not sure whether to try the coffee again or not.
Lovely looking venue in a great location on Deansgate. The staff were really friendly and it had a great selection of cakes on display. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s worth £9.40 for a slice of cake and hot chocolate. I was taken back when the server told me the price.
My partner and I used to be affectionate customers of this bakery as they offered a good selection of freshly baked layered cakes. I loved their Nutella cake; the pistachio one; the Oreo and many other ones, and I loved sitting at one of their tables to taste a coup of coffee before a beautiful and tasty slice of cake, but that was before Manchester Pride! Starting on the Friday before the parade and up until the Tuesday after, they only served rainbow-coloured sponges with just a layer of cream. In all honesty, I think they idea of serving rainbow cakes, cupcakes, etc. was lovely and welcomed, but I also wished they were respectful of those customers who just wanted to eat their “usual” cake. When I went there on the Friday, the staff did not have any idea of what was on the cake and when they sliced the one on the shelf and eventually figured out what flavour it was, they told me they would not have any other cake for the day, which was really disappointing to me. I sent them a message and they replied there was a chocolate cake on the shelf at the time and explained the staff never knows what is coming which, to me at least, is a bizarre marketing choice because customers may be willing to wait if they know their favourite cake is coming, rather than going somewhere else. I was even more disappointed to visit the bakery for 5 days in-a-row and realising they only had rainbow-coloured cakes, after I was told they would start baking their usual cakes after pride. At that point, I gave up and told my partner we will never set a foot in that bakery again as I had been disappointed enough. I mean, it can happen that you go somewhere and your favourite plate is not available; it shouldn’t but it is something people understand, but going to a bakery for 5 consecutive days just to be disappointed over and over again is probably too much. It’s a shame to see how great business can be ruined by crazy commercial choices that push customers away. The two improvements I would recommend are: 1 Just be mindful of your customers’ preferences and ensure you have a variety of sweets available to suit them all; 2 It’s a good idea to let the staff know what’s coming on the day so that they can answer to customers’ questions. You have lost two customers unfortunately. UPDATE: Thank you for your reply and apologies if my review was not convenient for you. It is true you told me in 2 different occasions not several the cake's flavour were the same, just in rainbow colour, but when I visited the bakery, there was just one cake and your staff did not know the flavour. They eventually said it was Victoria's sponge or maybe lemon. They also added there would not be any additional cake on that day and it was only later that you replied to my message stating there was an Oreo cake and added the staff never knows what's coming I am happy to post the screenshots if this helps!. Secondly, when I came back, the situation was pretty much the same: a few slices of leftover cakes rainbow-coloured. Unfortunately, when I pay for a cake, I want it to be fresh an I am not assuming yours wasn't not some leftover. Pride is an important event for me too, but I just don't think that a colour or a theme is what makes equality! You can paint the world rainbow for a few days and still discriminate others again, I am not saying this is your case!. The point I was trying to make is that having a variety of cakes, rather than just one or a slide, would have meet the preferences of more customers, rather than forcing them to necessarily eating colours which are not so healthy for the body, anyway. I am afraid the "pride paladin" card did not play well but I was expecting this to come out at some point. Certainly not with me! I believe you have just been defensive and completely missed the point of my review but, indeed, I will be eating cakes somewhere else.
I came here last week to try the brunch menu and it's probably the best I have EVER had! I ordered eggs benedict and requested the bacon to be extra crispy and the chef cooked it to perfection. The hollandaise sauce was delicious and creamy! What more could you ask for? I will definitely be back again!
