Can only afford to give two stars after today’s experience of queuing for almost 15mins! After work rush means shops are usually busy and they had only two check-outs opened. Also they don’t have sef serving check outs. I kind of regretted going there. I could have been out in 10 if i had gone to Lidl which is only next door.nnNow the positives, i like this place, well stocked, good variety of fruit and veg, also nice flowers and plants.nnBut they need to do better, after work 7pm where people are tired and they want to just do a quick shop and get out, they don’t want to wait around. When I ask the cashier he told me it had to do with budget cuts.
Great store for the area. Well stocked and maintained and ample parking.
First ever visit to an ALDI store. This specific store has good parking space. Clean and wider aisle. Nice to see doors on refrigerators shelves to save us all. Loads of fresh produce Sat 6pm. Good amount of essentials. The famous middle aisle deals. Two checkout counters open as it wasn't crowded. Some of the items had short shelf life which won't work as weekly shopping. No children friendly parking space seen. Trolleys can be picked/parked only at one point.
This was my first visit to Aldi - Purley Way, for which this review is aimed at.nnIt started badly, and got worse! So why a five star review?nnWell initially I didn't have a token for the trolley - I Know! - But if you shop by apps and pay by Google Pay - like the Queen - or maybe the King - you don't carry cash I am not royalty btw!. I think retail needs to sort this - perhaps their app could record a RFID chip in the trolley and deduct a quid if it's not returned?nnBut Kareem saved the day. He very willingly solved my problem - and whizzed off for a trolley with the special key they carry. What a considerate bloke! I told him how I'd shopped at the 'other' discount store the same day with the same dilemma and 'scurity' just melted away. Kareem saved the day for me so willingly and with a beaming smile. Please promote Kareem as an ambassador and give him a pay rise. It's such positive exchanges that ensure customers return - and I will certainly do that! If they let me!nnWhy did I say that? Well on going through checkout and having unloaded my trolley - I didn't notice the sliced beef package on the other side of my helmet. But 'Lucy' did!nnShe was very polite in bringing it to my attention - and I can honestly declare here that I have never shoplifted in my adult life! Never! Why do I say that? Well in my career I have put away many internal bank fraudsters - properly! Not like the Post Office and as an expert witness I've had to be whiter than white in all my transactions. I am not a hypocrite - and luckily have never been financially challenged to even consider dishonesty.nnLucy was the model of discretion - but she very diligently lifted each pot of cream in its tray to check nothing else had been secreted underneath or anywhere else! You see - once transgressed, never trusted!nnThis was not a surprise - Lucy is very sharp eyed and no doubt is used to all customers' tricks in this current climate of shoplifting-police-sanctioning climate. I understood why she was extra observant. Well done Lucy. You did it so discreetly and professionally. Aldi would do well to promote you too! Alongside Kareem!nnFor full disclosure, I said earlier 'all my adult life' why?nnWell as a young hungry schoolboy - I went into Streatham Woolworths remember them? with a group of other grammar schoolboys and followed their example of 'palming' a milky way!nnI felt so so guilty that I was almost sick while trying to eat it! These peers were professional shoplifters and Millwall supporters! and used to go on shoplifting forays up the West End. I remember a whole family of 'troll' dolls remember them? being exhibited in the classroom - an amazingly valuable haul.nnI never became part of this enterprise - and never coveted an unpaid-for chocolate bar or anything, ever again.nnThank you Kareem - and thank you Lucy. The cream was fantastic!nnI hope Aldi will let me back!
It's an Aldi store like most others, spoilt by the complete apathy towards people with disabilities in the car park, with the usual response, and I quote 'we expect our customers to respect the blue badge bay'. Might help if you put up signs and painted the bays the same as you managed to do for 'Click and Collect ' call me a cynic, but I do believe that short term profit is the motivation???
