My father in law passed away just after midnight, his partner was told there would be a fee if they came and got him that night and it would be best to wait until morning. This is the middle of summer in the midst of heatwaves, he was already deteriorating quickly so there was no possible way he could stay until morning. The afternoon, Mr Ranson came to the house to discuss funeral arrangements. His attitude left a lot to be desired. In a room full of grieving people he was aloof, condescending, brash and didn't seem very sympathetic. My husband asked to be a pall bearer, it was written down. The day of the funeral, the 4 men supplied carried the coffin. My husband was forgotten about and now he feels like he's let his dad down. It's unacceptable, it was written down that my husband would be pall bearer, my husband didn't even realise until they were walking into the Crematorium. Two things my husband wanted to do. See his dad in the Chapel of rest, which they explained why he couldn't and while it hurt, he understood and doesn't blame them in any way for that and be a pall bearer. Which was agreed on and written down. Everyone else my husband spoke to was very nice and other than the issues stated above they were extremely helpful. We live in Scotland and had to return home 2 days after the funeral and originally the ashes wouldn't be ready until the following week. They went out of their way to pick them up on the night of the funeral so he could get them on Saturday which was above and beyond and couldn't praise them more for that. So while the majority were nice and they were so very helpful regarding the ashes I think I would avoid using them again for the reasons I stated. Especially the fact my husband got forgotten about regarding being pall bearer. Something he'll never get to do for his dad ever again. Something he'll forever regret and feel like a failure over.
My family and I would like to thank Jane and the team at Alan Ranson for the thoughtful and compassionate service they provided for us after my mother suddenly passed away in April. It wasn't straight forward and Jane kept us informed of everything that was going on in this distressing period. Thank you.
My partner passed away in July 2021 at 51 years, as he was so young there was no funeral plan in place. I rang a couple of local places to me and as soon as I spoke to Jane I knew these were the funeral directors I wanted to use. They dealt with everything for me, they were professional, caring, understanding always at the end of the phone and email. I couldn't have asked for a better service, they also are so reasonably priced as they are a family run business I certainly would recommend these to anyone who needs funeral directors. Thank you again for helping me through a very difficult time. Also the florist attached to them was also amazing she put together the most amazing floral tribute for the top of the coffin I couldn't have asked for anything more it contained all the flowers that I request and it was perfect.
If they was more stars I would give them. Made our wonderful mams funeral perfect with every single detail. Jane And the staff are absolutely amazing and very professional but also you feel like you’ve known them all your life. Even though the funeral was in the peak pandemic they made sure it didn’t feel like it. I’m very proud and grateful for the lovely service and support before , during and after my mams funeral. Definitely more then a funeral service
On behalf of my Gran and the rest of my family, I would like to think the whole team at Alan Ranson for their kindness, helping hands and professionalism with looking after my Grandpa and his funeral arrangements after he sadly passed away this year. From their understanding and patience as we organised the finer details, to the support and consideration that was shown to my family on the day of the funeral, the team were the support we all needed during our tough time. They made sure everything was as easy as possible for us and for that I could not be anymore grateful. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Thank you once again.
A wonderful service, provided with total dignity, respect and sincerity. I used this company for my mam who died suddenly. To me they took away all the "bad" jobs, which in turn took away an immense amount of pressure from me. The celebrant that they recommended Colin Laidler was wonderful. Really I could not have asked for more as a grand finale for a wonderful woman.
A most beautiful funeral, conducted in very tragic circumstances, for our 24 year old son Nathan. Nothing was a trouble from beginning to end and we received superb aftercare well after the funeral. As a family we were treat, as was Nathan with supreme dignity. 5 stars does not do justice to this business. We have used Ransons in the past with exactly the same results. It was so reassuring to know from the outset, we would be given akin to perfection. We were also very surprised, in a pleasant way at the cost of Nathan’s funeral. Thank you Alan, Jane, Tony, Christine, David and all others included for your astonishing professionalism, compassion and extremely dedicated work in sending our son to the afterlife in the best possible way. Also our gratitude must be extended to Hilary Bolton the celebrant who conducted the service so beautifully. Thank you from the Bell Family.
My uncle's funeral was managed reassuringly, professionally and smoothly, I was very impressed by and grateful for the attention to every detail. I would like to thank Jane, Tony and everyone for making a sad occasion much easier to deal with.
