Went here to watch the football and grab a mixed grill. The lamb chops are definitely better than those you get at Prince of Wales/The Scotsman. Service was excellent. Only disappointment was the mogo, which was a bit dry. Appears to be family friendly too went on a Sunday afternoon.
One of the best takeaways I've had. Only deliver to some hotels near Heathrow so be careful when you're looking for somewhere to stay The Masala fish was delicious, all the sides were superb too. Quick delivery and friendly service
I have been coming to African Queen since I was a child. Was our family go to for a mixed grill and food. It’s changed hands a few times and it’s not been great. Recently I’ve heard it had changed again and everyone has said that the food is as good as the original owner from many years ago. I have to say that even though the place was really busy. The food and time it took to come out was really poor. We waited 1 hour for food. We ordered the Special mixed grill, Butter chicken, saag paneer and masala chips. The grill was big but really lacked flavour and it was definitely not cooked in a tandoor. The butter chicken was very sweet. The masala chips and saag paneer were decent with nice flavours. Was disappointed after hearing this place has really upped its game.
I travel 1 hour for the mix grill here best in the business better than Prince of wales by a mile. Food has so much flavour can never go wrong with AQ keep it up guys !!!
I have visited the place with few friends, and I have to say I just had a good mix grill. I also had the jumbo masala mix grill as well and really felt that all the meat was soft and on point. the service was really good Sb’s the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. My expectations didn’t fail as the food was tasty. Ambience is ok as well and the traditional flavours I felt on the food
Had to wait ages for food to arrive. Mixed grill was way too spicy. Chilli paneer was shop bought cubes drenched in tomato ketchup. Don’t waste your money, go elsewhere. Oh and if you dare criticise, the restaurant will respond by telling you to go elsewhere instead of taking the points raised in board. Pathetic. All the negative reviews must be wrong somehow…
The food is great. Every dish tastes different unlike other restaurants. The service was also good. Staff are polite and very helpful. Try the Methi Chicken it is very good. Highly recommend it.
Great restaurant, with lovely stuff who are ever so kind and attentive. Truly enjoyed my evening and I would totally recommend them. The food was delicious too.
As a lover of Indian food and somebody who often eats out, I can honestly say this is far from Indian. No words can express how bad this place is. The food is more Chinese than Indian. I wouldn't feed this food to my dog. Starters were dry and tasteless, curries were thrown together like curry powder, water and chili powder. If you want better indian food, go to tesco and get their ready meals or go to a fish and chip shop, get their curry sauce and add your own meat. I can't express how bad this place is... Do. Not. Bother.
Visited again after a few years. The food and service was great. Better than the other London desi pubs and dare I say it almost at Midland Desi Pub level!
