We used AFD removals to move a 3 bedroom house. We had a similar problem to Ben, below. They insisted on cash at the end of the day, which was completely unexpected. We felt bullied and they ended up taking us to a local cash point to get the money!!! We were left feeling a bit shaken and as if we had been taken for a ride. They really spoilt the day. Not recommended.

We had used AFD Removals three times before for a complete house-move and they were excellent! They were well organized, their packing service was great and they did an excellent job.

So naturally, this time when we moved, we called on them again. However, this time we were moving to a house just a few minutes away, so we moved most of the stuff ourselves. And we just asked them to move 6 items - a Fridge Freezer, a Washing Machine, a sofa, a single wardrobe and a couple of double beds. They took the booking over the phone without a fuss and quoting a very competitive price of £70/-. So we accepted and gave them the job.

The lady who took the booking didn't ask any questions about disconnecting washing machines, emptying fridges or dismantling beds. I also specifically asked her if I should get cash ready or if they will accept a cheque and she said quite clearly that there is no need for cash and that a cheque will be fine, once the delivery was complete. This was just as previous times, so we had no reason to question it.

When the two guys arrived on the day, and realized that they had to do all this they started complaining. We agreed to disconnect the washing machine, but insisted that they dismantle the beds or just leave as we could easily get someone else for a later date.

After a bit of complaining they said OK and got to work, so we naturally assumed everything was OK. But as soon as they had loaded everything into their van, they became very rude and argumentative. They accused us of being dishonest during the booking and trying to get a low quote for a lot of work. Then they insisted that we pay them the £70 in cash before the delivery and threatened to take our stuff away if we didn't.

We were naturally extremely disappointed and shocked! We didn't have cash ready as their own representative who took the booking specifically said it was not necessary. And when we made this clear they got even more argumentative and even abusive. In the end, they agreed to stop-off on the way at a cash machine so that we can get the cash for them.

As soon as we got to the new house, they insisted on the cash, which we reluctantly handed over to them, as our stuff was in their van and our day was soon becoming a very traumatic one and all our plans were being messed up.

Having received the money, they unloaded the van and fortunately re-assembled the beds and put everything away well. Again, they did a great job, but this time their attitude and customer service was very VERY poor and disappointing.

We were looking forward, so much, to our move to the new house and AFD Removals really messed us up and TOTALLY SPOILT OUR DAY. They caused us so much unnecessary grief and trauma that day.

I have recommended AFD Removals to many people over the past few years. But I now feel that they have grown too big to care and are starting to treat their customers as rubbish, instead of as the people who provide them with the business.

We are very disappointed in AFD Removals and will CERTAINLY NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE anymore. In fact we would recommend that you SHOULD NOT use AFD Removals anymore.
