I am so glad that I booked a room overnight here - I landed at Heathrow late close to midnight and had a connecting flight mid-morning. I didn’t want to miss the external hotel shuttles with my late arrival, so I opted for convenience over cheaper prices. The room was comfortable and small - like a dorm room. Totally dark and quiet, so I was able to get a solid night’s sleep after traveling from the US. Bathroom has shampoo, conditioner, body wash and small kits with Q-tips, make up wipes, etc. My stay had an included breakfast, which I hadn’t known in advance and I’m not sure if it is part of all stays; it was excellent and very filling yogurt, fruit, pastry, etc.. I opted to eat it in the aerotel lounge, which was quiet and relaxing compared to the main terminals. I’ll definitely stay again with an overnight layover. Book in advance - they turned away several people who wanted to book rooms as I was checking in, since they were full.
Now here's convenience if you're travelling from T3. It's in the terminal so no faff in panicking the next morning getting on your flight. Rooms are very clean, staff are polite and helpful and there's a lounge area to eat the overpriced food you've purchased in the terminal building. Will definitely use this hotel again.
Small, expensive, no space for luggage or hanging your clothes. There were three hooks on the wall with three hangers. There were towels and hand towels, but no wash cloths. Multiple signs warning you to shower with the bathroom door closed otherwise the fire alarm will sound. My husband and I had a 630am flight from Terminal 3 so decided to stay here instead of the Hilton at Terminal 2 much nicer if you have time for the walk and we had two twin beds, no closet, three hooks on the wall, and a bathroom smaller than the bathroom in my parent's camper. And it was $5 more a night than our fancy hotel we'd just had in Kensington, whoa. There was a Nero coffee shop and a M&S food shop, plus lots of vending machines nearby, plus hotel check in desk has a few coolers with items to buy also, all airport prices. I mean, the room served it's purpose, it was better than sleeping in a chair in the airport. Also, no windows, totally dark cave. Carpet in hallways makes it darn near impossible to roll your bags to your room and they don't allow luggage trolleys in hotel.
With a long layover between the U.S. and South Africa I thought it was worth it to book a hotel for a shower and a long nap. I was a little worried when checking in around 10 am as they mentioned check in time wasn’t until 3. But I think this was a new employee telling us this, and the more experienced employee quietly murmured something to him. It is a little weird that the rooms don’t have windows, but that is actually a plus—no light can get in! Next time I will look more carefully and consider booking through the hotel to see if there are shorter length bookings as my booking through Expedia was VERY expensive. Last but not least, I dropped my iPad out of my bag and didn’t want to retrieve it off the floor while everyone was trying to sleep. When I woke up I had forgotten all about it. I contacted the hotel a week later and they confirmed they had it and I was just able to pick it up thank you for your honesty!nnI also want to add it has been super fast to get through customs the last 2 times I have been here if you are trying to determine if it is worth staying here
We were not happy with our stay at the hotel.nWe arrived early and been told we could not do a early check in. Only if we payed a ridiculous amount of money extra. Witch we first didn’t want to do but after being told that there was no place to keep the luggage by the reception we were forced to do so. And payed a ridiculous amount of money extra per person to enter the room early. To make it even worse the room was not cleaned properly we found hair, fingerprints, dust and other dirt!. On top of that the room’s appear way better on the photos and have no window or possibility to get in light or fresh
