Adrian is the rudest person I have ever had to deal with. So is his manager Mike. Requested combined postage on an eBay order and they inflated the price by 150% whilst the items sat in the basket overnight. Being a longtime loyal customer of over 40 years means nothing to this man. He basically called me a liar saying no-one changed the price. I was rude according to him for stating the facts. It was done outside store hours so price could only have been changed by him. No idea why he made such lengthy arguments with me as I thought I made it clear I had cancelled the order because he changed the price to wipe out the discount and still retain 2 lots of postage in the price. He is a nasty little man who does not deserve any customers especially not loyal ones. He is supposed to be closing for retirement so let's hope it is sooner rather than later.
great shop, and a lot bigger than I thought it would be!! would definitely recommend if you're into music :
Travelled down from north Essex to see what they had - found tons of over-priced stuff. Looking through their used vinyl I picked out 3 described as "A" quality staff member said means no scratches etc "as long as the boss did his job" and they listed nothing higher other than unplayed vinyl. Inspected one album and found a trench-like scratch fully across one track and the others were at least visible scratch-free. Having gotten them home, it's obvious used vinyl is not play tested and is only visually checked. The two I decided to take both have more snap crackle and pop than a box of rice krispies. In future I'll be giving these a miss.
Good and diverse collection, prices aren't always great though. Definitely worth a visit though, there's lots of stuff worth seeing here
First time visiting. Nice store, larger than I expected. Sadly didn't have the RSD record I was looking for but did pick up another decent find. Well worth a visit if in the area and I will return.
Very good selection of CDs and vinyl. The rarer stuff can be pricey but also got some great bargains. Let down a little on customer service grumped when I asked for the vgc sleeve I had picked from the rack instead of the dogeared one he'd brought out of the back with the disc in it
Amazing Aladins cave. Tucked away but opens up to a music nirvana. Great selection of pre used vinyl. Every vinyl fan should use it to keep them there. Friendly staff and huge selection. Loved the place, visiting again this weekend.
I come in on Saturday afternoon out of the area and spent maybe a hour or more in the shop say about estimated time ninety minutes. A good selection of DVDs,cds, vinyl albums, records, 12"inch singles the website tell you who the staff are I think i was serve by a man called lee. No one in your face like HMV and the service was good in there get a seven inch singles for a reasonable price prices vary on the artists and I pick up a few good CDs for so many for a pound something for everyone.
I would advise doing your homework before buying any vinyl from Adrians as they are upto double the price of other stores HMV which in this day + age with competition so tight is not on. Yes they have a lot of stock but very expensive by comparison and I wasn't overly impressed with the customer service either. I bought 9 records and a record box and to my detriment didn't investigate/compare prices as it was a hasty decision for an Xmas present and spent just shy of £260. When I asked for a discount as I thought it a lot of £ the assistant manager said it was too late as it was rung into the til inferring if i'd asked earlier I could have got one but the manager shouted from the back that Adrians only gave a discount if spending over £500. I think they should at least stick to the same story !!!!!!!! I tried to buy "must have" records for a teenage vinyl fan and when home looked on line at lists of "records every collection should have which lead to the HMV site which is when I found the price difference and was amazed that lots were half the price of Adrians and tbh I am annoyed with myself for not investigating but as it was a last minute decision I will live + learn. I'm sure many people have great experience of Adrians and i do when i shopped there inthe 80's but my recent experience means that I would only shop there again as a last resort if I couldn't get what I wanted elsewhere although i am really disappointed as I generally prefer to support smaller independent specialist shops, for which there is a place but not if they over charge and don't help themselves as it can only end one way. In their demise which is very sad !!!!!
Just a treasure trove of music. Be careful, you WILL buy more than you were looking for!. Great shop.
