A treasure trove of incredible costumes, excellent costumer service, and lovely people! My partner Pete and I came to visit Bath Theatrical Costume Hire today to rent a historical jacket. Phil and Silvia took us on a full tour of the roughly 30,000 items they have there, and we were blown away. They have every costume you could think of, including a range of genuine historical items. With knowledge and passion they quickly picked out a range of clothing appropriate for what we were looking for, and didn't hesitate to help us through the whole trying process. Phil patiently explained how to wear each one, and even had historical facts to add! They went above and beyond the call of duty, and we ended up staying two hours and having a lovely time with the whole team. I honestly couldn't recommend this place highly enough. An amazing find for those occasional fancy dress events. They also do costumes for theatrical productions obviously Vast selection of costumes covering different themes and eras. Knowledgeable staff. Good hire prices. I could spend hours in there just looking
My partner forgot his suit for a wedding and we travelled quiet far so had no chance of going back for it. With half an hour to go, we called Bath Theatrical Costume Hire as a shot in the dark to ask if they had a suit we could hire. They did thank God! Not only that, but they were very swift and extremely helpful with our chaotic request. We were in and out in a short timeframe and made it to the wedding on time. I cannot thank you enough for your help!
I've been a customer and friend of this company for 20 years. As actor, director, producer and Head of Drama now retired they have supplied everything I've ever needed from complete Beauty and The Beast costumes to Oliver, The Tempest , A Midsummer Night's Dream and 40 other shows in between. It isn't the stock, it's the service! If they haven't got it, they'll find it or make it.
We have been coming here for years. Costumes hired have for Rocky Horror Shows the most frequent 1920's mobster, 1930's military, Elizabethan the first one ball and others. The garments hired are invariably the best amongst the rest at these functions and it's always a quiet gleeful conceit to regularly be regarded as the best dressed - thanks to the excellent range and authenticity of the garments from here. The only shortcoming being the lack of metalwork. I'm assuming there is a reason for this, but helmets, armour, edged weapons and ordnance in general are of the plastic/polystyrene nature - which rather negates the otherwise excellent attire.
Whatever event or production you need a costume for , this is a very good place to start. Amazing stock and very pleasant people to deal with.
Innovative, creative people who know quickly how to deliver beautiful ensembles! On the day of the ball I found that besides the ball gown, I needed a day outfit for the following day. This they put together in a little more than a couple of hours!!! They also presented options for my partner and myself for the Rococo Ball a month ago and I also chose a beautiful dress made by them for this year’s Bath 1890s Victorian Ball. They added white flowers to the dress at my request and used innovation to have clip on curls which were perfect and withstood a night of dancing! They’re also great for studio photos since they will go the extra mile of perfectly making you look the part from the era or character of your choice. Very talented and they have my complete trust in such matters!!

Very highly recommended. I contacted Bath Theatrical Costume Hire with a request for a fairly niche character from the Master and Commander series and within 24 hours they had put together the perfect outfit. I had the chance to try it on beforehand and swap one or two details, and the final result was the envy of my fellow party-goers. Look no further for your fancy dress and costume needs!
