A great place to stay. Good amount of space between each pitch. Feels like you're in your own wood. Staff are polite and helpful.

This is our fourth year at Abbotstone, part of the Camping Unplugged group, and the new onsite family running it (David and Rosie), along with owners Nick and John, have improved the facilities and service. New loos, shop, small coffee shop could arguably nudge it toward 'glamping', except it remains a big field surrounded by woods and walks. So bring your own tent, in other words. I took our Year 8 parents and children there and they had a ball. The girls went feral, as always, and we had no complaints. Bless the weather - the sun came out all day, every day. Charming village of Old Alresford is a two-mile manageable walk and we loved the very 'on-it' service and decent food of the Horse and Groom pub there. All in all, recommended.

A great basic facility campground with lots of space. There were many families out for the weekend here.

We went just 'out of season' in mid May (the weather was great). We booked on-line and camped same day - as it was a weekend we could only stay one night, but this was fine. There was a choice of pitches actually in the woods (as well as options in the big field). The wood pitch was fantastic, was really peaceful - beautifully quiet. Camp fires were no problem (in fact encouraged - so long as wood not taken from the ground). The facilities were all good (showers, toilets) and the guy running the site (Sid) was excellent (very friendly and really helpful). We had a bit of a worry when we got back and found a tick on our youngest (aged 5) from our exploring in the woods with just shorts t-shirts on. Since coming back we've become experts in tick removal and Lymes disease symptoms. The area around New Forest is known for ticks - it's just something we'll be more aware of next time - certainly nothing against this campsite - which as per the 5 stars - was one of the best we've visited over the years (part of 'Camping Unplugged' group of sites).
