Free to National Trust members or £9.50. The car park is free. There is a picnic area in the orchard. A fascinating 16 sided house over 3 floors with a number of strange objects. The cousins collected shells. Each room displays these objects. Due to the shape of the building it feels strange walking around the building but each corner you turn there is something new to discover. There are a number of walks from the building. Unlike other National Trust properties which provide you with a map identifying different features in the grounds, unfortunately staff did not provide a map. There is no cafe but there is a van selling drinks.
This National Trust house was filled with history. We went on the guided tour of the grounds which has so much information hidden within it. Loved the house as well, lots of nooks and crannies to explore. They have a trailer onsite with food and drinks being served from it, amazing food. Worth going again.
An amazing sea shell extravaganza of a house filled with curiosities and set in beautiful grounds. The sort of place you wish you could have spent your summer holidays as a child. So glad the National Trust look after it.
The staff here were the friendliest I've ever come across at a national trust venue, my youngest child has additional needs and all the staff here treated him so well and made him feel very valued, they adapted the way they spoke using simple language so he could understand and follow what they were say, along with everyone. Asking him questions and allowing him to answer. A truly amazing team working here and a great place to visit.
Wow what imagination and foresight the owner had when building this. A quirky, small, fun and pretty little residence that has been well preserved by the National Trust. Set in lovely landscape with glorious views down the rolling hills to the river below. A wonderful place for a picnic with lots of information about the place and its history. Free parking, a quint little gift shop and small cafe.Thoroughly enjoyed our visit there.
This may only be a small property but it is so interesting. The staff are really knowledgeable and love to share the information about the property which brings it alive. We were lucky to be the first people that morning which meant we were ahead of the crowds.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
What a wonderful property! I’ve been twice now and see myself going back many more times, still finding much to see and learn. The history is fascinating and the volunteers and staff seem really passionate about sharing all they know. The second hand bookshop is also full of fun and we’ve brought home a few books with each visit. It’s the perfect afternoon trip for us to get out of the city!

Unique property and history. Excellent little snack van on the ground, and a great view for a picnic.
A beautiful, peaceful slice of Exmouth. Amazing views over the estuary and Dawlish. Fascinating house and history. The volunteers were just fantastic.
