We rented the entire property for a family gathering in December 2022 which included relations from America and England. We selected the property as it looked gorgeous and offered ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms my elderly parents required the use of walkers. The manager of the property, Chris Rose, was absolutely wonderful and very helpful throughout our weekend stay. While the house is beautiful, it requires a lot of refurbishment, updating, and loving care. We lost power to the house every day which resulted in no heating, no running water, and no electric. The downstairs bedroom bathroom, which my elderly parents were staying in, had no running water for the duration of our stay. They were forced to wear blankets and use the reception toilets to wash themselves. A plumber was called, but unfortunately, he did not attend the property during our stay. As a host of luxury rental properties ourselves, we understand that things can go wrong that are outside of the property owner’s control. However, at the very least, a property of this size and age requires a generator to maintain essential utilities, especially in the winter. The property manager waivered some fees which we were grateful for. However, we felt that our stay had been seriously compromised because of an avoidable issue which the owners failed to address. Furthermore, when we reached out directly to the owners, Alex and Gretchen Boon, as advised by the property manager, they did not even respond. We are leaving one star, not because of the beauty of the house, or the wonderful staff, but due to the absent and neglectful owners and the very poor value for money. This house deserves to be respected and taken care of. Unfortunately, it feels that the owners are not invested in the property or the experiences of their guests. If any readers are considering hosting an event at this property, please ensure a generator has been installed to avoid a similar experience to ours.
Very nice country mansion. Was the ideal location for a small/medium wedding. The staff were all excellent and nothing was too much trouble.
I can't shout about this place enough. Fantastic staff and setting, attending weddings here has been a joy. Excellent place, fabulous food and beautiful well kept house and rooms, couldn't be better!!
Everything g about 10 Castle Street oouzs quality. We had our daughters wedding there and what a day. From start to finish everything went smoothly. We'll done to the whole team for making this special day, extra special.Rooms: 5/5
Really excellent Sunday evening supper! It was very quiet, as expected during the first week of January, but the service and food were top rate. It's a beautiful building and we were made to feel very relaxed and comfortable. Finishing off our meal with desserts in front of the open fire was also a lovely touch. We'll certainly be back soon.
We had a lovely evening, hosted by the lovely Laura. This was my first visit to 10 Castle Street since June last year and my have things improved. The food was great and a fun sharing menu, not something we were used to but everything we ordered was super tasty and we enjoyed mixing and matching the dishes. Best of which was the Monkfish, yum.
Beautiful house and atmosphere, the rooms are really nicely decorated and the grounds are just so well kept. I loved the menu the cannelloni is highly recommended! The staff are all very attentive and friendly, we had a wonderful meal here and drinks by the fire afterwards. Can't wait to visit again in summer so we can sit outside and make the most of the grounds.
WOW!!!! Highly recommend, food was incredible, portion sizes were very generous and taste was fantastic. The staff could not do enough for you, particularly loved sitting at the bar for “Happy Hour” whilst James mixed amazing cocktails. We stayed in bedroom 4 which overlooked the garden, loved laying in the bath with the view out onto the beautiful surroundings, the bedroom was very comfortable!! Will definitely be back soon
Just got back from a fantastic weekend at "No 10". The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and is an amazing looking building with plenty of history associated with it. The staff were great, very helpful and friendly and the food was amazing. We had a 7 course taster menu both nights along with some excellent wines. Recommended!
Sheer brilliance. The salted caramel espresso cocktail was amazing! The food was all beautiful. The best bit for us was that they allow dogs in the drawing room! The outside space was fantastically thought out. We will be back!
